February Update

One Of A Kind Yarns

Christi Miller, independent knitting instructor and yarn designer, will be presenting our February 5th program. She will be discussing her One of Kind Yarns. You will learn the Why, the What and the How: The Why– Decision, The What– Inspiration, The How–Process. Her color combinations – they are sure to Inspire you for future knitting projects and stash knitting. Also, Christi will bring some stock to tickle your Fancy. Perhaps even your pocketbook. Cost is $40 for 200 yards per skein. You can also purchase her yarns from Yarn & Stitches.

Currently, the What Knots are her Knitting Group. She is an avid knitter and loves teaching knitting to newbies, reacquainting former knitters and knitting with her group. She lives in Plano with her family.

Meeting to be held on February 5, 2013, 7:30pm at Hockaday School in the Clements Auditorium at 11600 Welch Road in Dallas. Please use the parking lot with the entrance just east of Welch off of Forest. In case of inclement weather, we will be following Hockaday’s schedule for closing.

Workshop Spaces Available

We still have seats available in both of Beth Brown-Reinsel’s workshops: Friday, May 3: Latvian Fingerless Mitts and Saturday and Sunday, May 4th and 5th: Fana Cardigan. Dallas Hand Knitters Guild members must have their deposits for these classes to Sheryl Dial before February 15th, 2013. At that time, we will be opening any remaining seats to non Guild members. For more information, contact Sheryl Dial at dallasunravel at yahoo.com.

DFW Fiber Fest is Coming Soon

April 5-7, 2013 brings DFW Fiber Fest back to the convention center in Grapevine. While some of the popular classes filled quickly, there are still, at the time of this posting, TWENTY-ONE classes that have openings. Click here to check out the schedule. And even if there isn’t a class that suits your fancy, be sure to plan to come out that weekend and shop the vendor hall!

Again this year, the Dallas Hand Knitters Guild will be helping out at Fiber Fest by manning the yarn winding station, this year only on Saturday. We need volunteers for this, and if you are interested, please contact Cris Hays or Kathy Boyd.
